Gremlin Nation
Gremlin Nation was developed through a participatory workshop series, Our Pain Thinks About Metaphors. These workshops were part of the Unwired Currents fellowship with feminist publisher Futuress, exploring expanded and alternative technologies. These workshops explored metaphor as a medical technology, and asked how the patient might reclaim them, focusing on experiences of chronic pain.
Gremlin Nation is a piece of speculative fiction based on one shared metaphor from the group: pain as a gremlin. Quotes from the workshops were used to guide the writing, and this story was then turned into a short hand-bound publication.
